How to teach a child to draw: first steps by age
This book is made for the very beginning. First a child traces a drawing along the dotted line, then repeats it step by step, and over time draws familiar things without any help.
Drawing for ages 5-6
Tracing is the best place to start. The child follows the dotted outline with a pencil and the hand learns the shape. Then they try to draw the same picture in the blank space.
The simplest drawings work best at first: the sun, a cloud, an apple, a ball.
Drawing for ages 7-8
The child holds a pencil more confidently and can go through all the steps alone. This is the time for more detailed drawings: animals, a house, a lighthouse, a car. The finished drawing can be colored before moving on to the next one.
For teachers and art clubs
111 drawings are enough for a whole school year at two or three a week. There are no worksheets to print and hand out: each child has their own book, and all of their work stays in it in order.
It works well for short art lessons, early finishers, indoor recess, and drawing time in kindergarten and first grade.

How to Draw Everything: 111 Easy Step-by-Step Drawings for Kids was published by Magic of Discoveries LLC on August 12, 2024. The paperback has 104 pages in an 8.5 x 11 inch format, ISBN 978-1-963328-72-1.
The book has 111 drawings in seven themes: animals, flowers, natural elements, foods, gifts, clothing, and other everyday objects. Among them are a dog, a cat, a raccoon, a butterfly, a sunflower, a rainbow, a snowflake, a cupcake, an ice cream cone, a rocket, a car, a lighthouse, a house, and an umbrella.
Each drawing is shown as a short sequence of steps. It starts with one simple shape, and every step adds a new detail. The new line is black, and the lines drawn earlier turn gray, so the child sees at once what to add next.
Below the steps, the same drawing is printed as a dotted outline to trace, with blank space beside it for the child to draw it alone. Most drawings get a full page, and some smaller ones share a page.
The book opens with a short note for young artists that explains the black and gray lines, and a table of contents with page numbers. There is also a letter from the author to the young artist.
Every illustration was drawn by hand by our illustrator, with no artificial intelligence used. No separate sketchbook is needed: the practice space is inside the book.
The book is also published in Spanish as Cómo Dibujar Todo, and in Russian as a printable file.
The series also includes a larger book, How to Draw 111, with a full two-page spread for every drawing and more detailed practice. How to Draw Everything is the shorter and simpler one, made for the very beginning.
