Butterfly coloring page
The wings are divided into several separate areas. That leaves room for more colors than the simplest pages, where the whole picture is one solid shape.
There is no need to color each part on its own. A child who is just starting can fill each wing as one shape. Later the same page can be printed again and the separate areas given different colors.
The butterfly is symmetrical: the left wing and the right wing carry the same pattern. The wings can be colored to match, repeating the colors from one side on the other, or deliberately given different combinations.
The main outline measures 2.4 to 4.8 mm, and the butterfly fills roughly 70 to 82 percent of the page and sits in the center. There are no flowers, no grass, no frame and no other background around it.
Under the picture is the word BUTTERFLY in large outline letters. It can be colored too, and an adult can say the word out loud and point to it while the child colors.
Printing them
- Choose Letter or A4, whichever your printer takes
- Thick crayons work well on the large areas
- The separate areas on the wings do not have to be different colors
- If you use markers, slip a spare sheet underneath
- Print two copies and try the wings in different color combinations
