    Color

    Hand the page over and let the child color. One object, thick outlines, nothing else on the sheet to get lost in.

    Say

    Name what is on the page while they work. Cat. A cat says meow. Where are the cat's ears? Nothing to prepare, you already know the words.

Why are clothes useful first words?

Because getting dressed happens twice a day, every day. The word is already being said out loud; the page just gives it a picture.

Which clothes are in the books?

Socks, shoes, boots, hat, coat, pajamas, glasses, T-shirt, pants and dress in Book 1. Book 2 adds a cap, a top hat, a sombrero, sandals, flip-flops and a tank top.

My child will not sit still to color. Is that a problem?

Not at all. If the page lasts two minutes and the word gets said twice, it did its job.
